Special Serving Tips

smaller version

  • Offer Lipton Pyramid Tea at the beginning of the meal, as well as with dessert.
  • Use Lipton Pyramid Tea Pairings Guide to assist guests with ordering the tea that best compliments their meal or dessert.
  • Present the six varieties of tea in a tea chest. Allow the customer to read about the tea blends and select the one that appeals to them most.

  • Make a note of which blends contain caffeine, as this is a common questions that customers ask. (Lipton Tropical Temptation Herbal Infusion is caffeine free.)
  • Ask your customers how they take their tea – milk, sugar, lemon, and honey are all common requests.
  • Always ask your customer if they would like a refill and offer more hot water, along with a new tea bag.

Tea Pairings

The Art of Pairing Tea and Food:

Much like wine, pairing tea with food is an art. The right cup of tea can act as a perfect compliment to your food, while the wrong cup of tea can overpower it. When tea is drunk alone and not paired with a meal or dessert, it tastes different than if it is paired with food. Acids, tannins and flavors in the tea interact with the food to create different taste sensations. A good match will bring out the nuances and enhance the flavors of the food and the tea.

Suggested Pairings:

Twilight Ceylon Black Tea: An excellent complement to tomato and pesto pasta sauces, lamb, and tiramisu.

Asian Green Sencha Tea: Well suited for mild or subtly-flavored foods, such as seafood, rice, salads, melon, chicken, and fruit cobbler. This tea also goes well with most fried foods.

Tropical Temptation Herbal Tea Infusion: An Excellent compliment to roasted chicken spicy dishes and fresh fruit
African Sunset Red Tea: Best paired with chocolate chip cookies or chocolate cake.
Alpine Berry Flavored Black Tea: The more robust flavors and aromas of most black teas are well suited to pairing with full-flaovred foods such as meat and spicy dishes from Mexican, Italian or Indian cuisine.  For dessert, pair with chocolate cake or brownie creme brulee or cheesecake.

Fujian Pearl White Tea: Best on its own or paired with a light dessert like sorbet or fresh fruit.
